Drew and his many insights...

Drew stood in his closet full of clothes and claimed that makes someone rich......his closest full of clothes is in fact the reason we are NOT rich.

Deep discussions with Drew Adamez...

Drew recently asked me (randomly - as always) how they get babies out when they're born ..... I hesitated because I wasn't quite sure he was ready to hear that part of the story. He soon asked if they have to cut the penis? Relieved that he was more interested in the boy's pain - and THAT area - than a mother's pain - and THAT area - I had to explain to him about germs and such but then I was afraid he was gonna run off and talk to his Jewish friends at school! So then we got into a religious discussion about why people do or don't "cut" the penis and at what age...... I was basically exhausted. The questions he's asking now are requiring much more complex answers with much more complex personal views. But, alas, I will have an open minded son.

Deep Thoughts with Drew Adamez

Drew's new thing is: "What does ______ do to your body?" (it's always about food...milk, pizza, cheese, meat, strawberries, water) These have been pretty challenging - especially when we're treating ourselves to oreos - I just had to tell him they're for fun, but eating too many is when it can be bad for your body! I can't ruin his love for oreos!

Yesterday Drew asked me, "When are we gonna get to go to Heaven?" (in the same tone he would ask about Gattiland or the swimming pool - like he's getting tired of waiting!) It was pretty hard trying to explain how important it is to want to go but not want to go "right now." Because his new response to every answer is "but I wanna ______ right now!"

My favorite thing about Drew's deep thoughts: he's been talking about when he was in Heaven before he was born too. He says that we were standing there yelling, "pick me, pick me!" And that's why he picked us to be his parents!

Oh, AND, he walked up to me today and said he had a secret to tell me in my ear, "You're the best mom in the world and I love you."

Summer Fun!

MR loves the water!
I know what you're thinking..."Michael Phelps was at your neighborhood pool?"
Nope - That's Drewsky!

"ConGraduations" (as Drew would say)

Drew's graduation went well. He was actually sick and didn't even get to go to school the day of the graduation but he got through it. He "dozed out" on some of their songs, but sang the National Anthem like a champ! This video is their processional.

He still went to school for a couple of more weeks to do swimming lessons. This was his last exit from the building! It was his idea to "fly." He is no longer a Little Munchkin...he's on his way to being a Gullet Gecko! He's already started his summer reading program!!! We're on book #2!

Hot Summer in the City!

This is MR's way of coping with the hot summer! Dad took the boys to Home Depot for the Kids Workshop. Drew made his very own fuseball game box! MR held up the screwdriver like he knew what he was doing!

(I do not have my camera at the moment. I will post Drew's Pre-K Graduation pics later!)

Where did our innocent little 4 year old go?

No, this is not a post reminiscing about how Drew is getting to be a big boy growing up so well. This is to post that our big boy went to the principal's office yesterday!!!! He said this time he wasn't pillow fighting at nap time (I say "this time" because it's happened before) but he was blanket fighting - like he's proud he came up with a new game or something. To top it off....I was told that he and his partner in crime were laughing as they went back to their classroom. They weren't even threatened by "the talk" with the principal/owner of the school!!! Of course I want to know "his side" so we asked....in the hopes that he's being influenced by someone else! Of course he didn't start it....but I asked him what "Papa James" said when he was taken to the office..."he said what he had to say." He would sure do well in court. He's not giving us any additional information that will get him in any more trouble!

New "Quote of the Week"

Drew asked me to tell him a story last night. Every once in awhile he'll ask me to make one up for him. I usually make the story about a lesson he should learn, so I just change the name so it sounds like his. The last story I told was about"Stew." This time the story was about "Blue" (not the color-just rhyming with Drew). I started to get ready to tell my story about "Blue" and Drew wanted to know where he lived. "Boston, TX" of course (rhyming with Austin) to which Drew replies, "oh no, you gotta be kidding me." I thought I was being pretty creative!

yummy snacks!

MR: Drew gave it to me.
Drew: He's eating all of my cookies!

A lot can happen in 5 years!

I've finally gotten some pictures together to share the last 5 years of having my best boy, Drew! He's lived a life that most haven't lived within 10-20 years.

Within a week after he was born he'd already fought a rough case of jaundice and conquered a heart murmur! Here he is with his orange face wrapped in his billy-blanket.

First meeting w/Coach Brown!

At a few months old he and I survived The Great Evacuation out of Houston trying to avoid Hurricane Rita! It took us 22 hours to get from Pearland to Austin!

He traveled to the border of Texas to meet his Great-Grandpa and we got a picture of 4 generations of Adamez men!

Swimming at about 4 months old!

This was his first of many UT football games! (this was before the new endzone seating!)

A natural Longhorn. We did not force him to suck his fingers like this! It was his equivalent to sucking his thumb.

National Champions! The night we won we all went to campus and celebrated in the middle of the night!

MIC-KEY, M-O-U-S-E!

A week after his surgery removing his tumor. The bandage is covering his port.

His future hero, Eddie Jones at the Children's hospital.

Conquering Cancer!

Group Hug at Easter!

Our Blondie cuddling with Dad

More UT football!

Last family picture with out baby brother!

MR was born and so was the best big brother in the world.

First trip to NYC! Eatin Strawberries in Central Park!
